Glossing, glazing, toner: Does your hairstylist ever ask if you would like any of these services?
Do you know what they actually do?
If your answer is yes, great! I’m going to break it down one step further, and if your answer is no, you’re going to learn just what those words mean.
So is it gloss, glaze, or toner?
Well, it’s up to the stylist on verbiage, but at the end of the day they are all the same thing.
At Craft House Salon we say gloss, and it’s an amazing tool we hairdressers love to use. A gloss has many different functions.
A gloss is a non-committal color change, and a high-shine means you’ll need less product to get that salon finish at home. Let’s say that you’re a blonde who likes to switch it up once and a while but are a bit hesitant to take that leap of faith? A gloss is the best of both worlds; you can have your brunette-dream come true, but in handful of weeks, your color will start fading back to your almost original color. If you want to go back to a bright blonde, it will take minimal effort to get you back to those beachy colored locks.
Ever wonder how that perfect platinum blonde got her perfect hair to stay that way for months on end, even after being out in the sun & pool? GLOSSING. Color balancing and enhancing is HUGE. She comes in every 3-5 weeks (as per her stylist recommendation) all yellowed out from the sun, and we apply a gloss that’s specifically tailored to her hair’s needs. Platinum is her end result.
Now, whether you are a blonde, brunette, redhead, or creative color, you can absolutely benefit from this service. I’m using platinum blonde purely as an example. We can gloss away unwanted tones, and also enhance the your hairs beautiful, natural tones.
Hate coming in ever 2-3 weeks for greys? Grey blending is an option a gloss is helpful for. It’s meant to keep your grey blended for a natural effect with minimal growth lines.
The one thing that everyones hair can never get enough of is moisture. Davines always thinks ahead, and with color, there is no exception. Our color lines are made with naturally derived ingredients, and are held to the highest standards. We take every single ingredient put into our color line into consideration to make sure it will keep the hair in great condition, and well moisturized.
We hope next time you’re at the salon you opt for a gloss for the amazing benefits.
Your hair will thank you!
