Summer sleep Hair for the win

I am constantly being complimented on my hair. At least five times a day, people tell me how much they love my “styling.” Truth is, I do very little, and when I share this with people, I always get the same response: “I wish my hair could do that.” When I tell women I wash my hair once a week, use two products, and never use heat on my hair, I get puzzled looks. Listen, I’m a walking example of living-in, natural texture. I relying on great haircuts, especially straight razor cuts that bring out my wave even more.

Lived-in hair takes a little bit of letting go of the perfect, embracing natural texture, and being ok with a little fluff and frizz. You will have to accept that your hair won’t be the same day-to-day. If you are looking for perfection and 100% frizz free hair, stop reading now. This look wont be for you.

The proper product is what it is all about. Everyone will have a different setting product that will work for them. You may not find it on the first try, and you might initially struggle with the end result. If you stick with it and listen to your stylist’s suggestions, you will get to your goal quicker.

Lastly, and this is important, you need to understand that your wave, curl, or lack either, is what it is. You can’t expect your perfect curls to relax into beach waves, or the reverse.

Check out a little clip of me applying the new Cult & King Balm we will be carrying this week. This is the best lived-in air drying product line I have found, and I’m so excited to be carrying it soon.

H2O GO!

Thirsty? GOOD!

Because, if you want healthy mermaid locks, start chugging. What you put inside your body affects what’s outside your body, and your hair can tell a lot about your health. Especially if you aren’t drinking enough water.

When dehydrated, your hair can literally STOP growing! Crazy right? Drinking water will hydrate hair follicles and prevent issues like dandruff and split ends. Being dried out on the inside can cause hair loss if bad enough.

Another bonus of drinking those ounces is less staining on your skin when getting a color service. (Granted, we strive our best to be clean and neat, also providing barrier cream, but we need to get those baby hairs.) Being hydrated will cause your skin to be super happy and not want to suck up that color. Additionally, much easier for us to remove the proof of you not being a natural red head!

All in all, when you take care of your inside, your outsides will thank you! So go get that reusable bottle you have tucked away in the cabinet and get to drinking!!

XO
